That was easy - too easy? I don't know. The only thing I do know is, that in my opinion I did a great job. And that feels goooood:-) I came out and couldn't stop smiling. That's a good sign, isn't it?
I still have to wait till Friday.... argh!

Das war leicht - zu leicht? Keine Ahnung. Was ich weiß ist, dass ich meiner Meinung nach einen großartigen Job gemacht habe. Und das fühlt sich guuuuuuuuuuuuut an:-) Ich kam raus und konnte nicht aufhören zu grinsen. Das ist doch ein gutes Zeichen, oder?
Nun muss ich bis Freitag warten.... argh!

Casting Call

Just got another Casting for tomorrow - and I'm a little bit nervous about. It's a commercial with a huge german acting star ... uoho!
So, keep your fingers crossed for me as usual:-) I'll tell you more about it asap.
Gerade hab ich für Morgen ein neues Casting bekommen - und ich bin etwas nervös. Es ist für ne Werbung mit einem großen deutschen Schauspieler ... uoho! Also, wie üblich die Daumen halten:-) Ich werde euch so bald als möglich mehr erzählen.

Keith Johnstone - Summary

There's a reason why letting you wait for so long. Honestly, I didn't know what to write about the workshop. And to be more honest, I am glad that I didn't write about it, although I promised. I'm sure you're now wondering why:-) I'll try to explain it to you.
Es gibt einen Grund, warum ich euch so lange habe warten lassen. Ehrlich gesagt wusste ich nicht, was ich über den Workshop schreiben sollte. Und um noch ehrlicher zu sein, bin ich froh, dass ich nicht darüber geschrieben habe, obwohl ich es versprochen hatte. Ich bin mir sicher, ich fragt euch jetzt, warum:-) Ich werd versuchen, es euch zu erklären.

Second day started good. Keith arrived and the first hour it was like learning from a Master. But time went by and in the end Svenja and I were really going to be disappointed. Why? That was the question circling around our minds.
Der zweite Tag begann gut. Keith kam und die erste Stunde war wie Lernen von einem Meister seines Faches. Aber die Zeit verging und Svenja und ich waren wirklich auf dem besten Weg enttäuscht zu sein. Warum? Diese Frage kreiste ständig in unseren Gedanken.

So we talked about it for HOURS. Guys, you can't imagine - we had the same impressions, the same feelings and we were wondering if we were the only ones. We knew we couldn't stand it like this another day. So, the only thing we could do was asking the rest of the group if they had the same feelings or worries. And so we did. We told the group about our impressions, our disappointment and our expectations. And guess what - we were the only ones! None of the others seemed to be disappointed! The total opposite! They were happy as hell, uncomfortable only with our nasty questions. And how uncomfortable! So we talked about it again for least an hour or two, to tell them why we were asking and to explain ourselves. It was not our intention to disturb the group or to act up like bitches. We calmed everyone down and then left the round.
Also sprachen wir STUNDEN darüber. Ihr könnt euch das nicht vorstellen - wir hatten dieselben Eindrücke, dieselben Gefühle und wir fragten uns, ob es nur uns so ging. Wir wussten, dass wir das nicht noch einen Tag aushalten konnten. Das Einzige, was wir tun konnten, war den Rest der Gruppe zu fragen, ob sie diese Gefühle und Sorgen auch hatten. Und das taten wir. Wir erzählten der Gruppe von unseren Eindrücken, unserer Enttäuschung und unseren Erwartungen. Und ratet - wir waren die Einzigen! Keiner der anderen war enttäuscht! Ganz im Gegenteil! Die waren total happy, ungemütlich fanden sie nur unsere unangebrachten Fragen. Und wie ungemütlich! Also sprachen wir über das Thema wieder ein oder zwei Stunden, um ihnen zu erklären, warum wir das fragten und um uns zu erklären. Es war ja nicht unsere Absicht, die Gruppe zu stören oder uns wie Bitches aufzuführen. Wir beruhigten also alle und verließen die Runde.

But we were still unhappy. And I really mean unhappy. How could we survive the next day? We decided to stay open and to do everything what's possible to get something out of the workshop. Aber wir waren immer noch unglücklich. Und ich meine unglücklich. Wie sollten wir den nächsten Tag überstehen? Wir entschieden für uns, dass wir offen bleiben wollten und alles möglich machen würden, um etwas aus dem Workshop mitzunehmen.

The next day, we did like we decided the evening before. Am nächsten Tag taten wir genau das.

And it was ... okay. Sorry, I can't say it was great. But it was okay. And Keith didn't seem to be annoyed or mad about our comments to his workshop. He tried to do more practical work, to explain better and to listen to our questions. So, that was okay for us. And the second day passed by without remarkable disruptions. Und es war ... okay. Sorry, ich kann leider nicht sagen, dass es großartig war. Aber es war okay. Und Keith schien nicht ärgerlich oder genervt von unseren Anmerkung zu seinem Workshop zu sein. Er versuchte mehr praktische Übungen einzubauen, besser zu erklären und mehr auf unsere Fragen einzugehen. Das war vollkommen in Ordnung für uns. Und so verging der zweite Tag ohne bemerkenswerte Unterbrechungen.

But the interesting part was following afterward. Svenja and I call it the "Tetris of Life" - attention guys, this term iscopyrighted saved:-) Suddenly, so many thoughts came to our mind as if our brains had been new connected. I cannot explain it better. We talked and talked and had one idea after the other. So many things set in the right place (therefore Tetris) and we had many, many - like Oprah says - BingBingWabadooAHA-Moments! Amazing feeling!
Der interessante Teil kam danach. Svenja und ich nennen es "Das Tetris des Lebens" - Achtung, dieser Begriff ist urheberrechtlich geschützt:-) Uns kamen so viele Gedanken, als ob unser Gehirn neu vernetzt worden sei. Ich kann es nicht besser erklären. Wir redeten und redeten und hatten eine Idee nach der anderen. So viele Dinge nahmen plötzlich den richtigen Platz ein (deshalb Tetris) und wir hatten ne Menge - wie Oprah sie nennt - BingBingWabadooAHA-Momente! Großartiges Gefühl!

To bring it to an end - I am glad that I didn't write my sad and disappointed feelings the second day. The workshop might not have been what I expected, but it gave me much more then I ever demanded. Does this make sense to you? :-) Um es zu einem Ende zu bringen - Ich bin froh, dass ich nicht über meine traurigen und enttäuschten Gefühle am zweiten Tag geschrieben habe. Der Workshop war vielleicht nicht das, was ich erwartet hatte, aber er hat mir so viel mehr gegeben, dass ich nie erwartet hätte. Macht das Sinn? :-)

Keith Johnstone - Opening Day

Waking up this morning at 4.30 a.m. That's definitely too early! But flight left at 7 a.m., so there was no chance to get more sleep. For the first time I was not afraid of flying - I'm so proud of me! I just relaxed and read a book while starting, flying and landing:-)

Arriving in Cologne, Svenja and I took a cab to our hotel, checked in and had breakfast - great! Workshop was 5 minutes away from our hotel, so we decided to walk. We arrived in time and met the other participants.
Our Opening Day was totally about improvisation - okay, the entire workshop will be about it... :-) We played a lot of games to get to know us a little bit better. It was really hilarious, seeing all of us running, lying, standing, joking, laughing and screaming around. We had a blast! I can't describe every single game, but let me tell you about one of my favorites.

It's called "Telling a story with 4 persons". 4 people are standing on stage. The first one in the row starts a story. Our group had to tell a Pirate Story. And I was first.
So I created a character named Krummknochen Piet and described how scary and terrifying I was. Then I started with my journey over the Seven Seas. Okay, I already crossed the first five and was now at the sixth when ... the next person (in this case Svenja) stepped in and continued. And so on and so on. You continue until someone tells the end of the story.
It's amazing, how easy everything comes to your mind! You don't even think about it - your story bubbles out of you... And my voice is still not back now:-) It's really fun!

Casting Call

Got a new Casting! Finally! It's been a looooong time..... Casting is October 13th. So, keep your fingers crossed for me! It's a short film and my character is yet to be determined. So I have to audition for two possible characters. We will see....
Ein neues Casting! Endlich! Schon ziiiiiiemlich lang her.... Das Casting ist am 13.10.09. Also, Daumen halten! Es geht um einen Kurzfilm und meine Figur steht noch nicht fest. Deshalb muss ich für zwei Rollen vorsprechen. Wir werden sehen....

Packing

Guys - I'm packing for Cologne! While thinking about monologues for L.A., I didn't forget the great birthdaygift my girl Svenja made me. We are flying to Cologne to participate in a Keith Johnstone-Workshop. For everyone not knowing him: he's the GURU of Improvisation!
Finally another Workshop! Finally some actors stuff on my list. Sometimes it's really hard to stay focused without some inspiration on the way.
So, I'm kinda excited. And I hope it will be fun! But I'm not really worried about. With Svenja on my side the entire trip will be fun:-) Except the flight tomorrow morning - we'll need a lot of coffee to go. Departure is at 7 a.m.!
I'll take my notebook with me, so I will post the next three days about the Workshop. Hopefully with some pics - I know ya guys:-)
Leute - ich packe für Köln! Während ich über meine Monologe für L.A. nachgedacht habe, habe ich das großartige Geburtstagsgeschenk von Svenja nicht vergessen. Wir fliegen nach Köln zu einem Keith Johnstone-Workshop! Für jeden, der ihn nicht kennt: er ist der GURU der Improvisation!
Endlich ein neuer Workshop! Endlich ein bißchen Schauspielkram auf meiner Liste. Manchmal ist es wirklich hart fokussiert zu bleiben, ohne ab und an etwas Inspiration auf dem Weg.
Ich bin aufgeregt. Und ich hoffe, es wird lustig! Aber darüber mache ich mir eigentlich keine Sorgen. Mit Svenja an meiner Seite wird die ganze Reise lustig:-) Bis auf den Flug morgen früh - wir werden eine Menge Kaffee zum Mitnehmen brauchen. Abflug ist um 7h!
Ich nehme mein Notebook mit, und poste die nächsten drei Tage über den Workshop. Hoffentlich mit Bildern - ich kenn euch doch:-)

Monologues

Preparing for my trip to L.A. I'm looking for monologues. You need to have a minimum of three monologues and they should not be more than 2 minutes each. And this is the hard part of the story...which one to choose?

- You should show your range so you have to pick three different monologues from different genres.

- The chosen character should respond to my age, my gender and my personality.

- Last but not least, the monologue should not be performed by famous actors (So, Harry and Sally, you're out!).

Why? Thinking that my performance will be better than the famous actress' one might be a little bit... presumptuous.
So, not that easy:-) Will let you know which one I picked as a favorite. Suggestions are welcome!
Vorbereitend auf meinen Ausflug nach L.A. suche ich nach Monologen. Ich muss mindestens drei Stück beherrschen und keiner darf länger als 2 Minuten sein. Und da fängt der schwierige Teil an... welche nehme ich? Ich soll meine Bandbreite zeigen, also muss ich drei unterschiedliche Monologe von unterschiedlichen Genres nehmen. Der ausgewählte Charakter sollte in etwa meinem Alter, meinem Geschlecht und meiner Persönlichkeit entsprechen. Und zuguterletzt sollte der Monolog nicht schon von einer berühmten Schauspielerin dargestellt worden sein (Tja, Harry und Sally, du bist raus!). Warum? Zu denken, dass meine Performance besser als die Performance der berühmten Schauspielerin sein wird, könnte ein wenig... vermessen sein.
Es ist also nicht einfach:-) Ich werde euch wissen lassen, welche ich als Favoriten im Auge habe. Vorschläge sind übrigens willkommen!

What a weekend! Let me try to tell you what happened while shooting our short film.
Was für ein Wochenende! Ich will versuchen, euch zu erzählen, was während des Drehs alles passiert ist.

Saturday/Samstag
6.30 a.m.: Woke and get up early - time to prepare everything on location. Früh aufgewacht und aufgestanden - es war Zeit, alles vor Ort vorzubereiten.

7.30 a.m.: On set. Everything was fine but we were really tired. And also excited! Everyone arrived in time - fantastic! What a great and motivated team we had (the entire day)! Am Set. Alles gut, aber wir waren wirklich müde. Und aufgeregt! Alle kamen pünktlich - fantastisch! Was für ein großartiges und engagiertes Team wir hatten (den ganzen Tag)!

around 8.30 a.m.: I left the set to get breakfast for everyone. Not to forget: milk! Working without coffee on a film set? Forget it! Ich verließ das Set, um Frühstück zu holen. Nicht zu vergessen: Milch! An einem Filmset arbeiten ohne Kaffee? Vergesst es!

around 9 a.m.: Everything was prepared for shooting. Last set ups, last talks about the first scenes and then... no rings! Oh goodness! I jumped into the car and drove to the next shopping center to get small golden rings. But... I was too early. The shop was still closed till 10 a.m.! Lucky me, the girl arrived just in this second and I begged her to sell me rings! Guess she thought I'm crazy:-) She was so cute and let me buy the rings! Great! No delay!
I thought I'll be back on set right before filming the first scenes. I thought. And then...
Alles war für den Dreh vorbereitet. Letzte Vorbereitungen, letzte Gespräche über die ersten Szenen und dann... keine Ringe! Oh Gott! Ich sprang ins Auto und fuhr zum nächsten Shoppingcenter, um kleine, goldene Ringe zu kaufen. Aber... Ich war zu früh. Der Laden hatte noch bis 10 Uhr geschlossen! Glück für mich - die Verkäuferin kam just in der Sekunde und ich flehte sie an, mir Ringe zu verkaufen! Ich glaube, sie dachte ich bin verrückt:-) Sie war so lieb und ließ mich die Ringe kaufen! Großartig! Keine Verzögerung!
Ich dachte, ich bin rechtzeitig vor Drehbeginn zurück. Dachte ich. Und dann...

10 a.m.: Trying to avoid a crash with the car crossing my way - failed. Crashed my car against a parking car. Great - first car crash ever in my life! And it wasn't even my fault! I was shocked and trembled for the next hour. But - lucky me again - the other driver was really nice and apologized a hundred times, called the police and fixed everything with me. Hopefully he will be nice after the weekend when we have to clear all the details...
So we talked with the police, with each other and took pictures of the cars. Wonder how it will be after the weekend.
Meanwhile lovely Hoang supported me and took the rings on set, so, they could start without me.
Versuchen den Zusammenstoß mit dem Auto, dass mir den Weg abschneidet zu verhindern - fehlgeschlagen. Knalle mit meinem Auto auf ein parkendes Auto. Toll - erster Autounfall in meinem Leben! Und es war noch nicht mal meine Shuld! Ich war geschockt und hab die nächste Stunde nur gezittert. Aber - schon wieder Glück für mich - der andere Fahrer war sehr nett und hat sich hunderttausend Mal entschuldigt, die Polizei gerufen und alles mit mir durchgesprochen. Hoffentlich ist er nach dem Wochenende auch noch nett zu mir, wenn wir die ganzen Details klären müssen...Wir sprachen also mit der Polizei, miteinander und haben Fotos von den Autos gemacht. Bin gespannt, wie es nach dem Wochenende ist.
Währenddessen hat mich der liebe Hoang unterstützt und die Ringe ans Set gebracht. Sie konnten also ohne mich anfangen.

next hours: Shooting, shooting, shooting. And shooting.

1 p.m.: I borrowed the car from our actors (what a trust in me:-)) to get Lunch for everyone. I was so scared to drive again - but I made it! And got back in one piece:-) with lots of fantastic Asian food. Hab mir das Auto von unseren Schauspielern geliehen (was für ein Vertrauen in mich:-)), um Mittagessen für alle zu holen. Ich hatte so Schiß, wieder zu fahren - aber ich hab's geschafft! Und bin in einem Stück zurück gekommen! Mit reichlich fantastischem, asiatischem Essen.

next hours: Shooting, shooting, shooting. And shooting.

9 p.m.: Short Dinner break with Pizza for everyone. Our team was still motivated and gave its best! It was awesome! We still had fun and worked hard on the last scenes. Especially our actors. They had to stay in the water, hours long. I am still impressed how fantastic they worked with these circumstances! Kurze Abendessenspause mit Pizza. Unser Team war immer noch motiviert und gaben ihr Bestes! Es war super! Wir hatten immer noch Spaß und arbeiteten hart an den letzten Szenen. Vor allem unsere Schauspieler. Sie mussten stundenlang im Wasser bleiben. Ich bin immer noch beeindruckt, wie fantastisch sie mit diesen Umständen umgegangen sind!

1.30 a.m.: WRAP! We made it! Finished! And we were all tired as hell! Drehschluss! Wir hatten's geschafft! Ende! Und wir waren alle höllisch müde!

That's been our shooting day - and now we only have to cut the movie:-) Das war unser Drehtag - nun müssen wir den Film nur noch schneiden:-)

Guys - we'll make it! Finally we got our team together for the shooting on Saturday. I'm so excited - my babe's short film will be fantastic!

Come on, Baby!

That were the fastest 5 minutes of my life - come in, get undressed, get scaled, get dressed, walk, get undressed again, get dressed again and then... leave. Wow!
I don't expect much of that casting, 'cause I think there are a lot of girls out there walking much more better than I do.

So, one more experience:-)
